What’s cooking at IPN this Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU

The IPN (Intuit PaymentNetwork) team would like to wish each one of you and your families a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.

What better time to express our gratitude to all our users than at Thanksgiving. Thank you all for using IPN,  for telling others about IPN and for reading this blog as well. Your continued support and patronage is the fuel that gets the IPN team going. And it’s this motivation that helps us iterate and build a better product over time.

Let me give you an example of what that means. When we first launched the pilot product,  some of our users required the ability to select a bank account at invoice time (a feature that’s absolutely necessary for businesses that use trust accounts for certain clients). Another set of users wasn’t very happy with the long time it took to get paid/funded. And UNHAPPY USERS = UNHAPPY IPN TEAM. So we huddled together, analyzed user needs and fixed the issues. As simple as that!!! You can now use IPN to manage multiple bank accounts and also get paid faster. Isn’t that great?

And we continue to enhance the PaymentNetwork based on your feedback. I would like to end this post by sharing 1) the process we typically use to build requirements and 2) to tell you about some of the new features that we recently launched.

Process that we use: Listen → Prioritize → Build → Listen →…..

Step 1: Listen to our users (their feedback, IPN usage, other)  to identify gaps that exist in the current offering and understand how to make the overall user experience smoother and more delightful.

Step 2: Prioritize those requirements and create a development schedule.

Step 3: Build the new features.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 1-3

New features:

1) Get Paid Faster → reduced funding time to 2-3 days for most transactions

2) Tell A Friend  → Ability to tell your Facebook and Gmail contacts about IPN

3) Manage multiple bank accounts → Add up to 3 bank accounts to send money from or receive money into. Also at invoice time chose the bank account you want to get funded into.

Read more about the new features.

All these features are the result of your input! What else would you like to see PaymentNetwork do for you? What do you think of our process? Comment and share your thoughts! We’d love to hear from you.

Until next time……..

Introductions

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Intuit PaymentNetwork blog.  Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Chetan Sukthanker and I am the product manager working on IPN (Intuit PaymentNetwork). I have been at Intuit for 2 years and work in their payments division.

I am very excited about working on IPN and I’ll tell you why. For starters, this product directly aims at solving one of the most important pain points that businesses face today: Payment processing is expensive and complicated.

How many times have you been bitten by hidden fees, high discount rates and other charges? Or how many times have you had to pay monthly fees in the months when you didnt process anything?…….. WELL NOT ANYMORE. With IPN you pay ONLY when you get paid and then only 50 cents per transaction. There are no monthly, set-up or termination fees.  All you need is initial approval and an internet connection to accept payments. Isn’t that great!!!! :) With IPN, you can now spend more time with your customers and vendors.

Another reason why I love working on IPN is that the Payment Network team focuses on YOUR needs as the customer. We have built the product on principles of ease and simplicity.  Among many other delightful features, in IPN:

  1. You can ‘Request Payments’ and ‘Send Payments’ in 3 simple steps. Funding time on most transactions is usually 2-3 days.
  2. You can add up to 3 bank accounts to send funds from or to receive funds into. At invoice time you can decide which bank account you want the funds to be settled into. This is especially beneficial for businesses that have to manage different checking accounts for different clients.

Many of our requirements are driven by what you PointingFinger tell us you want. Feedback on the site, emails to paymentnetwork@intuit.com and phone calls to our amazing support team have helped us shape the product to suit your needs.

I hope by this time all of you are just as excited as I am about Intuit PaymentNetwork.

So what are you waiting for?….. Go ahead, try IPN and tell your friends about it.
